I LOVE PAPER DOLLS!

I have always loved paper dolls. When I was a little girl I collected them and kept them in a suitcase (which I still have). I think that was the beginning of my paper obsession. I bought comic books with paperdolls, regular books of paperdolls; kept the paperdolls which came in gum, home permanents, and my mother's magazines. I still love them and that 's why when I saw this quilt pattern, I HAD to make it. It's for the youngest, Morgan, who's two yrs. old. I've already made all the rest a quilt, so she wins by default and being a girl doesn't hurt either.
I started laying out the rows and appliques-it was so much fun! Here is the beginning. I hope to have more done soon. I had to take a day or two off because the ole arthritis is really hurting my wrists and hands. I guess it was all the cutting, but who knows? What a bummer. I was all primed and ready to finish the appliques and, as I said, it was fun, fun. I am not a good sport at sitting quietly nursing my aching hand. I have a dr's appt tomorrow, so maybe he'll give me a magic potion-ha! But never fear, I am not a quitter and I shall prevail. ha ha Nerm

Nerm,
What a cute quilt! I remember that paper doll in my mom's magazine...was her name Betsy McCall?? I have a pair of pink plastic scissors that were for cutting out paper dolls...they're hanging on the wall of my sewing room! I will be praying for your hands! Hugs, Victoria Lynn PS: Are there any good quilt shops there?

I can tell in your spirit you are not a quitter. Everytime I see a blanket or quilt my grandma made for me I think of her and the love she has for me. Hang in there!

Can't wait to see the finished quilt. I played with all my paper dolls until all the paper tabs fell apart..so I get the obsession :)

Hi, Nerm, it's good to meet you! Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. Yes, I see that we have lots in common, and I have bookmarked your blog so I can come back and read more. Come back and see me, too!

Hey Nerm! Drugs work wonders on those aches and pains! :) :) Thanks for weighing in on my "dilemma." Yes, I really enjoy Etsy because it's so far-reaching and with the computer, I get to "meet" my customers. I kinda want to just do Etsy and some shows...we'll see...

This is a really stunning quilt. I love the color combination. Very sweet. I have the same childhood memories and I still love paperdolls, even at my age.

Nerm, it has been a couple of days since I was on here last. Things get busy and before you know it hours turn into days. Even though I got your picture that you emailed me the other day, to see this precious quilt on your blog makes me smile so big! Thank you for making this for Morgan. She will love it forever! It is so great to read all the things that people say on here about my awesome mom and the wonderful treasures that you have made for us 3 girls not to mention all the grandkids. I am so thankful to call you my mom! I love u

This is truly just to sweet. I adore the pattern, theme, the whole idea is so creative. Once again your choice of colors and patterns is primo. You have such a great eye for that. Please post photos when it's completed.
Smiles, Darly
PS The climbing vine I spoke of on my blog is called a Hyacinth Bean, (lablab ). If you go to Burpee.com or other seed catalog website, it should come up in their search. Or just google it.
